How much experience do you have?
Liz trained with the Roux brothers some 20 years ago, she has continued her career within the hospitality service’s extensively within the realms of award winning pubs and restaurant establishments, before venturing out on her own with he Dinner service. Liz’s aims to provide a professional and friendly unobtrusive service with a ‘where there’s a will there’s a way mantra’. Read our testimonials to hear form some of our many contented clients. Are your ingredients genuinely local?
Liz strives to use local suppliers only sourcing her meat from Aune Valley who provide outstanding quality of locally reared meats, beef, lamb, pork, poultry and game, which they can identify and confirm origin, living so close the coast provides a plethora of fine seafood which Liz uses well, any specialist ingredients are sourced from West Country fine foods, with fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs supplied from local farmers through the Aune Valley farm shop. Pre prepared foods are not an option as Liz seeks to offer a completely fresh and professionally constructed dishes cooked from scratch.
Can you help us with the planning of our event or do you only cook?
Of course we can! Not only can we help you with the supply of any equipment needed, but can provide a bar service for you if needed, we have good relationships with local florists, local bands and disco’s together with contacts for portable loo’s and bathroom facilities. We have an extensive collection of china; cutlery and table linen which if not suitable can suggest other companies which provide different. Meeting with you will allow Liz to talk through your event, and she will give you the benefit of her 25years within the trade to guide through all questions and queries you may have. Liz is happy to help you organise as little or as much as you require! Remember ‘Where there’s a will there’s a way!’
Have your staff got experience? What are their uniforms like?
Liz uses a professional group of waiting staff, who are friendly and efficient, and trained to work as a team, they are required to wear basic black and white and Liz provides them with a small apron, or badge to wear on the day, these are dark purple, should this clash with your colour scheme we can remove these, without a problem.
Do we have to clear up the next day?
On the occasion Liz and her staff will remain on site to clear away as much as possible, a ‘’clean up’ service is offered for the following day and will be charged for separately, the exact cost is dependent on amount needed to be done and the number of staff needed to do it!
Do we need a licence to serve alcohol?
We hold out own licence but there are times when an ‘occasional licence’ is required, we will apply for this on your behalf and charge you accordingly. Some clients ask us to provide the wine/champagne etc… which we will do, conversing with yourselves to achieve the desired product, alternatively you can provide your own drinks, we do not charge corkage but will include the staff wages needed to serve. We have a purpose built bar which can be set within your function room, fro which we can serve, real ales, pumped lagers, Guinness, cider etc… We have an extensive range of glass ware to accommodate your needs.
How on earth do we put a kitchen within a marquee in the middle of a field?
Simple! Liz works closely with a company called South west Hire, who can provide all possible equipment needed, again ‘ where there’s a will there’s a way’! All that is really needed is a water supply but even if you have not got that, then Liz has numerous water butts that can be transported to the site.
How close to the event do you need a deposit?
It is preferred that 50% of the estimated costs are paid 6 weeks before the event with the balance paid on the day or before if you prefer, when enquires are for a year or so ahead, you can place a retainer of £200 to confirm the date, which will then be deducted from your first deposit. Liz asks that staff are paid in cash to her on the day. There are no hidden costs!!! Everything will be itemised and discussed with you prior to the event, should there be any unexpected expenses Liz will confer with you before adding them to your invoice.
I live in London can you travel?
Absolutely and Liz has done so a few times. Whilst the majority of our business is within South Devon, there have been times when a client has requested a ‘touring’ chef and Liz is more than happy to do this!
